March 2023 crude steel production up 1,7%

Crude steel is steel in its first solid (or usable) form: ingots, semi-finished products (billets, blooms, slabs), and liquid steel for castings. Global crude steel production for 63 countries reporting to World Steel Association (worldsteel) was 165.1 million tonnes (Mt) in March, a 1,7% increase compared to March 2022.
African improved its crude steel production by 8,4% year-on-year to 1.4 million tonnes, while Asia and Oceania increased its output as a region by 4,1% to 124.8-million tonnes. Russia & other CIS + Ukraine produced 7.6 Mt, up 3,0%. South America produced 3.5 Mt, down 7,6%.
Europe, Other produced 3.5 Mt, down 14,1%. The Middle East produced 3.1 Mt, down 17,5%. North America produced 9.3 Mt, down 2,6%.
