The Absa Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) declined from 52.2 points in June to 47.6 in July. The successive decline in PMI suggests that the manufacturing sector is likely heading for a weak second quarter. The decline has mainly been linked to the unprecedented electricity supply disruptions during June.
