Be Aware of Radioactive Sources

The latest radioactive source detected at a plant of one of the SAISI members occurred during an incident on 21 February 2022. The particular Radiated Iodine I-131 source was removed by Necsa on 22 February 2021 for safe storage. The detection of six radiation sources were reported to HAZCOM by the metal recycling industry during 2021, versus 2 in 2020, 4 in 2019, 3 in 2018 and 5 in 2017.
